Tovrea Carraro Society relies entirely on community volunteers to conduct tours of the Castle. We are always looking for new docents to expand the number of tours given.
Tours must be booked in advance and are sold out months in advance. Any “walk-in” tour requests will be based on availability, only.

Booking Your Tickets
The historic Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights was opened for public tours by Tovrea Carraro Society on March 10, 2012.
Tours are approximately 2 hours and include the historic Castle’s main floor and basement, extensive grounds and cactus gardens surrounding the Castle.
Guests are greeted by Tovrea Carraro Society volunteers at the Visitor Center and taken through the Carraro Cactus Gardens on a tram with a docent. The tour winds through the beautiful 44 acres, viewing the outer buildings, before arriving at Tovrea Castle.
The tour is ADA accessible; please let us know that you are bringing a wheelchair or walker. We cannot accommodate scooters. Other Special arrangements should be arranged at least 2 weeks prior to your tour date and time.
Please be aware that there are no tour refunds within 72 hours of your selected tour date; exchanges not available. There is no waiting list for cancellations.
Due to high demand, as well as occupancy limits, tours must be booked in advance. Tour tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. You can purchase a tour ticket by calling 1-800-838-3006 and speaking to an agent.

Tour payments are nonrefundable within 72 hours of your tour. You may request a refund for your tour by calling 1-800-838-3006 at least 72 hours in advance. We are unable to provide an exchange of your tickets.
Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights Visitor Center
All Castle tours will begin at the Visitor Center located at:

Castle tours are approximately two hours long. Please consider the following when planning your tour:
- v Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your reserved tour time.
- v Bring water for your tour; we also have water available in Treasures @ the Castle Gift Shop. No open containers allowed; all must be capped.
- v Photography allowed. Flash photography is not permitted inside the Castle.
- v Strollers are not permitted inside the Castle.
Frequently Asked Questions
The tour will begin in the visitor center. You will board carts with a docent and be driven around the property where you will see the unique cactus gardens and outdoor features. The carts will then take you to the Castle where you’ll have an opportunity to go back in time and learn about the family that homesteaded the land, the man inspired to build the castle and the people that made it their home. The tour will conclude in the visitor center.
No, tours are limited to the first floor and basement.
A portion of the tour is outdoors. Please wear appropriate attire for a desert environment. Closed toe shoes are recommended. Hats, suncreen, sunglasses and water are especially important during our warmer months. Water should be in capped containers.
Service animals are the only pets allowed on the grounds.
Yes. Wheelchair accessible transportation is provided between the Visitor’s Center and the Castle. There is also a wheelchair lift at the Castle between the basement and the first floor.
The Castle is not currently available for events.
All guests to the Castle and its grounds must be accompanied by a guide on a tour.

There is no waiting list for cancellations. Occasionally cancellations do occur. Keep checking the web site for dates and times that may become available. We suggest booking your tour far in advance in order to get the date and time you would like. Tickets for tours are usually released 9 to 12 months prior to the tour day. Be advised: Tours book up very quickly.
